About Club

Rotary Club of Pune Metro

A diverse, growing and vibrant group of socially conscious individuals who work together to bring about impactful and long-lasting change in the community. Rotary Club of Pune Metro provides a robust platform where individuals work cohesively to fulfil their aspirations of making a difference in the community and they are guided by Rotary’s four-way test as they fulfil their dreams.

In 1996, on 25th April (Club Day) Rotary Club of Poona Midtown founded Rotary Club of Pune Metro (RCPM) under the leadership of PDG Rtn Dr. Karani, with Rtn Madhu Joshi as Charter President and Rtn Ravi Banchhod as Charter Secretary. The club was initially a luncheon club of the RID 3130. The club received its Charter on 28th June 1996 and it was presented to the club during a formal ceremony on 15th August 1996. Thereafter the club became a regular evening club. RCPM is a Large category club with 72 members that include professionals, business persons, doctors. teachers, educationists, architects, engineers and artists. The age of Rotarians ranges from 40 to 70.  Club boasts of a very healthy lady members’ percentage of 40. The club is also very well known for the participation by the Anns.

The Club activities cater to different sections of the community: Administration – our Club is well known in the district for its administration. The fellowship, friendship, mentorship in the club is highly regarded. Youth - We aim to inspire, motivate and nurture the youth by actively carrying out youth focused projects. Every year we organise various camps, such as career development opportunities, health check-ups, lecture series etc. Teachers - Teachers are an important figure in the life of young children.  In order to give respect and importance to teachers, every year we felicitate selected teachers on “Teacher’s Day” for their contribution to the young generation. Tarunyabhan- For the last 15 years we have been hosting a three-day workshop named “Tarunyabhan”, a holistic sex and personality development programme for the adolescent teenagers, conducted by a renowned doctor and social reformer, Padma Shri Dr. Ranitai Bang. Community Work -  We are actively involved in many successful and ongoing projects such as: traffic awareness, providing nutritious food to AIDS affected children, helping the HIV + individual connect by organising “Vivaah Melawa”, providing a special play area for physically challenged children at Sambhaji Park and many more. We also conduct Women Empowerment events including sessions on various skills and knowledge for women entrepreneurs.
