Felicitation of 3 teachers who have dedicated their lives towards training people in traditional Indian sports - Yoga, Gymnastics and Malkhamb Project - Teachers day felicitations 26th September 2024 Every year, Rotary Club of Pune Metro (RCPM) acknowledges the dedication of Teachers devoting their life to improve the wellbeing of society and students. This year, the theme considered was to accolade teachers from the field of exercise (both physical and mental). After scouting for the teachers who are doing exemplary work in this field, the TEAM finally selected 3 teachers – Mrs. Naina Gujarathi (Yog); Shree Ravindra Pethe (Mallakhamb) and Shree Rohit Garge (Gymnastics). Interestingly, all 3 games have same chord and use each other’s postures while performing the art. The meeting started with brief comments on the concept and procedure by President Amita Nene. Followed by Ishastavan from Rtn Madhavi Poddar in her melodious voice. Each Teacher was introduced one Rotarian - Rtn. Shobhana Paranjape, Rtn Chiplunkar and Rtn. Mohan Chatre. Event Proceedings were Introduction of Teacher, AV about Teacher and towards end each teacher shared his/her thoughts. Sow. Naina Gujrathi who has devoted her life to publicity and awareness of Yog mentioned that Yog builds good synchronization for healthy body, sound mind and peaceful soul. Epidemic deceases or distance cannot stop Yog Training. On the contrary, it provides opportunity to reach to the masses! Shree Ravindra Pethe winner of many medals at various levels like State, Inter University decided to devote his life to coach and develop the youth to become national players. He himself is expert in the game of Mallakhamb feels that this game will definitely develop body strong and stout. Mr. Pethe is active in several sports organisations Gymnastics is the game that became very popular due to events like Olympic. Shree Rohit Garge calls it as a game of ‘Grace in Motion’ and strongly feels that it is not only a sport but it is an art! In Gymnastics, individual strength, balance and body control is improved. Teacher Shree Garge is qualified Bled and MPED (Master of Physical Education). He is now regular trainer in several establishments. Rtn. Rajendra Erande expressed the ‘vote of thanks’ to all teachers who were facilitated and Organizing Team involved in the success of the event. Special thanks to Rtn. Avinash Joshi for hosting the dinner and sponsoring the event. The Project was led by the Project Director Mrs. Anjali Sahasrabudhey. Mrs. Mugdha Chiplunkar nicely compered the event as MOC.
