With the initiative of the Pune Municipal Corporation, a Street Art Fest was organised on the Jangli Maharaj Road Promanade, which was titled as "The Pune SmART". In this Fest, where-in there were about 400 to 500 stalls to exhibit art works of various artists,10 Rotary Clubs joined hands together and installed 10 stalls to exhibit paintings and art works of various painters, sculptors, and other artists. Even Rotractors also participated in large niumbers in this unique event. With the permission of the Traffic Police Department, half side of the Road was closed for traffic & in that space, various games, dance, aerobics, and other activities were conducted for various age groups. Along with the paintings, in the stalls, each of the participant Rotary Club showcased their projects and distributed informative pamphlets about their upcoming projects. It was a great activity for the Rotary Clubs for their good Public Image. The event witnessed a footfall of about 5000 to 7000 persons. Many people showed interest in Rotary activities & expressed their willingness to become members of Rotary. Through the sale of paintings & art works, a collection of about Rs. 1,00,000/- (consolidated for all the 10 participant Rotary Clubs) after meeting all the expenses, was achieved. But, apart from the collection, the event/project gave an excellent opportunity for the Rotary Clubs to showcase their activities to the general public and to make them aware of the same, many of whom did not know that Rotary dose so many charitable works.
