We at RC Pune Metro have a strategy of deciding projects which can do long term lasting impact on chosen beneficiaries, with intense activity instead of going for large number of beneficiaries with very light material. In that context, RC PUNE METRO has launched one more unique project ‘Project Durga’. This project is our baby step to remove the word "????" from our dictionary. Project Durga, is a project to extensively train school girls with self defence techniques by a team of experts ( weekly over 4 months) was launched in 4 schools in the week of Sept 12th in Rathi School and Agashe school ( Our Interact schools), Vimalabai Garware School and Renuka Swaroop School. Once the girl is trained in self defence, in future she will feel confident while travelling / working at odd locations at odd hours. Also if a group of girls have one trained girl, entire group feels confident. Name being Durga and Navratri just round the corner, It was officially launched during Navratri at Vimalabaai Garware prashala. Retd Assistant Commissioner of Police and a self defense expert Mr Dhananjay Dhopavkar was the chief guest. When looking at the demo during inauguration, efforts of Durga Team, who really took the initial idea to this point..was clearly visible.. so much of progress in a matter of couple of months... Specially when we had to create our Project Road Map.. with our own constraints/strengths, ..No similar project in Rotary to follow...Really Impressive indeed.
